Safety & Regulatory Compliance on Construction Sites
Last Friday’s technical training session, titled “Safety & Compliance: Best Practices for Safety & Regulatory Compliance on Construction Sites,” was both insightful and impactful. Facilitated by Engr. Lucky Okie, the session saw about 20 artisans from our Alumni community in attendance.
Engr. Okie began by emphasizing that the construction industry is one of the most hazardous sectors, sharing statistics on some of the most common accidents that occur on construction sites. This set the stage for an important discussion on safety.
He then guided the artisans through various regulations that govern construction sites, covering critical areas such as machinery and tool usage, site illumination, sanitation, and more. His comprehensive approach gave the artisans a clear understanding of how these regulations help create safer work environments.
The session concluded with Engr. Okie explaining the concept of accidents and stressing the importance of each artisan’s role in preventing them. He encouraged the artisans to take responsibility not only for their own safety but also for the well-being of their colleagues on-site.
The artisans expressed their sincere gratitude to Engr. Okie for the insights they gained during the session, which they believe will significantly improve safety standards on their own projects.
